Homebound Resettlement Program

Our Homebound Resettlement Program, is designed to support Nigerians returning to the country after experiencing displacement in North America due to ill health, deportation, or other social challenges.

For many Africans, including Nigerians, traveling to North America is considered a significant achievement.

However, when that dream turns into a nightmare, often due to factors such as changes in immigration policies, many individuals find themselves financially and emotionally exhausted. Some may be forced to leave the country, voluntarily or otherwise, after several years abroad.

Unfortunately, the stigma and sense of failure associated with returning home under such circumstances can be overwhelming. This has led some individuals to consider suicide or take extreme measures to avoid being seen as failures, such as attempting dangerous overland journeys to Europe through the North African desert, where many perish.

During the Trump administration, for example, we witnessed an increase in the number of undocumented Nigerians and other nationals being forcefully removed from the United States.

In response to such situations, our home-based division is tasked with promptly identifying returnees and providing them with moral, emotional, financial, spiritual, and resettlement support to help them reintegrate into Nigerian society.
